John Wick: Chapter 4 (Review)

 

What can anyone say about “John Wick: Chapter 4” (Lionsgate Films 2023) that hasn’t been said already? Since the first “John Wick” film’s debut in 2014, action fans have longed to see their favorite genre revitalized, redefined, and—well you get the picture. All four chapters, which we have all been fortunate to see played out on screen, have done exactly that. For those who have not seen them, buckle up. 

As in the previous three films, the story of “John Wick: Chapter 4” is told through the  stunning imagery of its various locations, its deftly crafted action sequences, and a script which captures countless world-building as well as physical elements to keep the audience rewinding. In addition there are numerous references to the action filmography of its star, Keanu Reeves. Indeed, the path of the one known as “John Wick” is rife with martial arts and gunplay, and it is sure to entertain beyond all expectation.  

The film’s run time is just under three hours, but the pace is set so high that hardly anyone will notice, until the snacks have long run out. True fans are sure to love it. Newcomers to the genre will love it too.  

SPOILER ALERT! The ending rounds the entirety of the franchise in “John Wick” fashion. Even still, there remain both room and rumor of a fifth “John Wick” installment. So, I guess that’s SPOILER MAYBE? If so, bring it on. The verdict is in: Instant classic, barring none; the movie was just that good.
